You’ll be the keeper of the supplies that keep the CHP running. You’ll receive, store and issue inventory, helping to maintain careful records of all our materials. All the vital materials that keep the CHP running will pass through your hands. You’ll keep track of our entire inventory and be the trusted gatekeeper that receives, stores and issues those materials to our entire team.

 

Warehouse Employee

Under supervision, you will work in the receiving, storing, recording and issuing of all materials pertinent to CHP operations. You will need to operate both powered and non-powered equipment in performing your duties.

You will be expected to follow established safe working practices in loading and unloading trucks and transporting those materials to specified areas. As a trusted part of our team, you will receive, unpack and verify items and quantities against invoices.

You’ll also organize materials on pallets, and tag and move these materials as necessary. In this role, you will stock and restock materials, gather and organize materials for shipment or for local issue. Lastly, you’ll need to maintain records, keep areas clean and organized, and occasionally operate machinery, such as forklifts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1) You must possess a Class C California driver license valid for operating any two-axle single-motor vehicle and one towed vehicle such as a trailer weighing 6,000 pounds or less. You will also need to have either one year of experience in California state service as a Service Assistant in a warehouse or store.

OR

2) One year of experience assisting in the receipt, storage or issue of materials from a centralized stockroom or warehouse.

Note: Applicants who do not possess the license will be admitted to the examination, but must secure the license prior to appointment.

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Knowledge: You will need to know the methods, practices and equipment used in general warehouse duties including receiving, storing and shipping material and supplies. You must know how to pack and unpack materials, and read and comprehend documents used in receiving and shipping materials in a governmental or commercial organization. You also need to know how to operate a forklift and related handling equipment, and how to take inventory and maintain inventory records.

Abilities: You need to be able to operate a forklift and related handling equipment. You will also need to be able to read and write English at a level necessary to perform your job well, perform accurate math related to warehouse work and follow instructions.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

You will need to maintain a neat appearance and be willing to perform heavy manual labor in both indoor and outdoor storage areas. You will also need a high school diploma or an acceptable equivalent.

You must have a valid CA drivers license, answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application, and ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

This position also requires a drug screening be passed, background investigation be cleared and medical clearance prior to being hired.
